Region 2: The Town

Overview

Three Districts and a Port

The Town is the largest area in the game: Central, Eastern, and Western Districts wrapped around the Market Square and the Plaza, plus the Port Area, the Bathhouse with its basement, the Town Warehouse, and the Abandoned House. Restoration is the whole point — help the townsfolk rebuild their homes and, as the official pitch puts it, turn their problems into revenue. Sixteen houses stand broken across the districts, and every one you repair puts the town back on the map. The urban planner in you will be busy.

The Battle Series

The town is also where the fighting happens, through a named battle series that escalates district by district. Central, Eastern, and Western Districts Purge each run two parts, alongside the Sewer Brawl, the breakout to the Bathhouse Basement, the Western and Eastern Floodgate closings, Operation POTATO, the Battle at the Lake, the Market Square Purge, the breakthrough to the Port, and the Final Battle. Your Zombie Fighters — armored, spears or bows, fielded from the Barracks in four-strong squads — exist for exactly this list. Build the army before the list builds over you.

Orders, Reputation, and the Six

Town orders are the economic engine: the first one pops Open for Business, and twenty-five pop Merchants' Best Friend. The people matter more — Jack at his Workshop, Gunter at the Astrologer's Tower, the Nun at the church, Herbert, Albert, and Linda at the Dockside Club. Every character quest they offer adds +10 reputation, and the ending checks all six at 90. The town is where that long game is played.

How to Unlock

Crossed during the opening escape through its abandoned streets, then becomes the game's central project once the main story shifts from survival to restoration.

Recommended Preparation

Restoration Kits Before Combat

House repair runs on kits — Building, Wooden, and Iron in tiers — and the cheapest small house in town takes 4 Building Kit I, 3 Wooden Kit I, and 1 Iron Kit I. That 4/3/1 recipe is the intended first restoration and pops Back to Life when you finish it. Stock kits ahead of the district battles too: a restored house you cannot defend is a waste of good lumber.

  • Building Kit I / Wooden Kit I / Iron Kit I — the small house recipe is 4/3/1 (Back to Life achievement)
  • A Barracks squad — four Zombie Fighters with spears or bows and real armor
  • Faith — activates the Port Area fast travel

Key Items

  • Building Kit I / Wooden Kit I / Iron Kit I — restoration currency; the cheapest small house is 4/3/1
  • Spear or bow plus armor — the standard kit of a Barracks-fielded Zombie Fighter
  • Work tokens — dropped on the ground and auto-collected by your workers

Quests

First... Sludge? — First Blood

The town quest board's first combat assignment is your introduction to fighting, and First Blood pops with the opening swing. It is deliberately winnable and deliberately ugly. Clear it, and the battle series opens behind it.

Safe zone — A New Dawn

The restoration chain pays off with the town's first safe zone, confirmed by the A New Dawn achievement. It arrives when a district stands restored and held, not when a timer says so. Every safe zone after the first comes faster, because restored townsfolk mean more orders and more hands.
