Quick Answer: How Do I Get Money at the Start?

Escape the dungeon, bury the dead, take the Town's first orders โ€” in that order. The opening drops you chained in the Inquisitor's dungeon; getting out leads directly into the Certificate, Please quest and the burial-certificate economy, which is your first dependable income. As soon as the Town starts taking orders, fulfil them: the first town order is the Open for Business achievement, and 25 orders over the run pays out Merchants' Best Friend. Do not chase farming profits before the graveyard is earning โ€” the dead pay first.

  • Escape the Inquisitor dungeon (the game's opening).
  • Complete Certificate, Please and start the burial-certificate income.
  • Take and complete the first town orders as they appear.
  • Reinvest into restoration kits โ€” repaired houses pay rewards and open shops.
Burials keep paying all game: the True Graveyard Keeper milestone asks for 50 burials, so every certificate you file early is progress on a later achievement too.

The Burial Certificate Economy

Your graveyard is the opening business. Corpses processed properly and buried with the right rites produce burial certificates โ€” the early-game currency that does not require any infrastructure beyond the church plot and your attention. Graveyard quality raises the value of what you are running (the Home Sweet Tomb milestone rewards hitting graveyard quality 200), so decoration work on the plot is not vanity spending; it is rate-of-return spending on the certificate line.

  • Autopsy and prepare corpses well โ€” quality work shows up in graveyard quality.
  • Home Sweet Tomb: reach graveyard quality 200.
  • True Graveyard Keeper: 50 burials over the run.

Scaling Up: Orders and Automation

Certificates are the seed capital, not the harvest. The scalable money is town orders fulfilled from automated production: zombie workers run work stations, resupply other zombies, and keep the Factory going, so the goods orders ask for get made without your hands. The Supplier milestone (50 resupply deliveries) tracks exactly this layer โ€” an economy where zombies feed zombies and you collect. That is the point where money stops being a problem and becomes a schedule.

Once workers self-resupply, set your order-taking rhythm to production, not courage: only accept orders your stations can fill before the next battle day.
