Quick Answer: What Gear Matters in Graveyard Keeper 2?

Gear in Graveyard Keeper 2 splits into two owners. You, the Keeper, craft weapons and armour for your own fights around the Town. Your zombies are the second gear line: every zombie carries exactly one tool or weapon plus one piece of armour, and the tool you give it adds a mastery bonus to the skill tree it inherited from you. Between those two lines, equipment is what turns the graveyard from a chore into an automated business — and what keeps the Town standing during the purge battles.

Quick Answer: What Gear Matters in Graveyard Keeper 2?
Gear BlockWho Uses ItWhat It Does
Keeper toolsYouWork the world: mining, harvesting, building; upgradeable
Keeper weapons & armourYouCrafted gear for the six-day-cycle Town battles
Zombie toolsYour workersOne tool each; adds +1 to +6 mastery in the zombie's inherited tree
Zombie armourYour fightersOne armour slot each; keeps zombie troops alive in battle
A zombie holds one tool or weapon and one armour — two slots, no more. Give workers tools and fighters armour first; a dead fighter squad is more expensive than an un-armoured one.

Zombie Gear Is a Progression System, Not a Cosmetic

Every zombie you resurrect inherits one of your skill trees, and the red skulls on its corpse open perk slots. The tool you equip adds a mastery bonus on top of that, which means a well-equipped worker zombie genuinely out-produces a bare-handed one. Collars control how many red skulls — and therefore perks — a zombie can actually use, so collar tier and tool quality go hand in hand. Gear your best corpses first; a Bronze collar caps a zombie at 5 red skulls no matter how good the tool is.

  • Red skulls = perk slots: each red skull on the corpse opens one slot.
  • Collar tiers: Bronze up to 5 red skulls, Golden up to 10, Steel up to 99.
  • Tools grant +1 to +6 mastery in the zombie's inherited tree.

Where Each Page Fits

The tech-tree page covers how red, green and blue points unlock the five mastery trees your zombies inherit. The crafting page explains the station hierarchy from Laboratory I to the Resurrection Lab and the Jeweler's collar tiers. The weapons page covers combat — your own arsenal, zombie fighters with spears and bows, and tower defense. The armour page covers protective gear and the fortifications that defend the Town between battles.
